Is Novibet Safe?
Novibet is an award-winning sportsbook with over 10 years of experience in the industry.
Discover all about their unique approach to bonuses, security protocols and in-house betting platform with our expert Novibet review.
Novibet Security Features
What makes Novibet stand out here is that they use their own platform to host their sportsbook. This is very rare in the industry with 888Sport being one of the other few sites that do this.
It means that they do not rely on a third party and of course that your data is only with one company. While using a third-party platform is still safe, an in-house shows how dedicated Novibet is, and are in it for the long haul.
Novibet is also certified by the Independent Betting Adjudication Service (IBAS), which is internationally recognised. It aids players in disputes with betting sites. This is completely voluntary and proves that Novibet keeps their player’s interest in mind.
In terms of protection of data, SSL encryptions are in place, and Novibet also meets all European regulations regarding data protection. Those together ensure that you are playing on a safe site.
We should point out that on legit, you will only find betting sites that are licenced to operate in the UK. Regardless of what else the site offers, this is our number one deciding factor.
Novibet has held a UK licence for over 10 years which is an impressive stat. Furthermore, they have never been fined in this time. The United Kingdom Gambling Commission (UKGC) are notoriously difficult to please and even the biggest operators have been stung with hefty fines.
On top of a licence in the UK, Novibet also holds the following licences:
- Malta Gaming Authority – Malta
- ADM – Italy
Two of the most highly sought in the business. Being able to hold more than one licence shows that Novibet is able to meet the requirements from different authorities at the same time.
When you consider that each body has its own set of rules, that change often, then this is a great mark of trust.
Protection of Funds
The UKGC demands that there are processes in place in the event of a company going into administration. Novibet holds a medium rating.
A medium rating is the most common we’ve come across with only Paddy Power and Betfair exceeding this to the highest level. Several sites, that we also consider safe have only the basic rating.
In terms of what it provides you as the player is additional safety. For instance, if you have a big win that is sitting in your Novibet account and the company collapses – will you get your money back. With a medium rating it is not a complete guarantee, but highly likely that you will.
With this in mind, we’re more than satisfied with Novibet’s commitment to ensuring funds are protected.
Novibet won two top prizes at the most prestigious awards ceremonies.
- Best In-house Product 2020 – EGR Awards
- Best Mobile Operator App 2020 – SBC Awards
Both of these are huge achievements. Being noticed by the industry improves how trustworthy they are.
Operators are bound by the terms of their licence to provide tools to help players manage their betting.
At Novibet, they go above and beyond. The responsible gambling section is found in the footer menu. There are five separate sections:
Each section provides insights into what help is available, including links to external sites. It’s a comprehensive page covering an important topic.
Compared with other betting sites, it’s up there with the best.
Novibet is legit because
Novibet Welcome Bonus
The Novibet welcome offer requires players to deposit and bet £20 in order to earn a £10 free bet. The initial stake is higher than some players may want to bet, but it is effectively a 50% bet match so it does provide value.
There are also fewer restrictions than with some other betting sites. For example, when the free bets are awarded you can place them on a wide range of markets, and there is no wagering requirement attached. Therefore, what winnings you make are yours.
Players have 3 days to pick the qualifying bet and place their free bets. Many betting sites set this time frame, so it is fairly standard.
Furthermore, there is no cap on the winnings from the free bet.
using one of the links on our page

of at least £20 at odds of 7/10 or higher
when your qualifying free bet is settled
- UK new customers only
- KYC verified
- Max £10 free bet
- Min bet £20
- Min odds 7/10 (1.70)
- Free bet stake not returned
- Certain markets/sports/payment methods restrictions apply
- Qualifying bet must be made within 3 days
- Free bet valid for 7 days
- T&Cs Apply 18+
- General Promo Terms Apply
In order to place bets, you must verify your account. This is true for all new players. It is a legal requirement for Novibet to do this at some point.
We like the fact that they choose to be upfront about it and request it early.
To verify you will need to send the following documents:
- A valid photo ID (passport, drivers licence)
- Proof of address (paper copy dated within 3 months)
- A photo of your debit card (if used)
It might seem unusual for a betting site to ask for this, but it is in the interest of protecting players. Novibet has security measures in place to store your data safely.
Existing Player Promotions
On-going offers are in the promotions tab in the top menu. At the time of writing our Novibet review, there are two promotions running.
- Acca Price Boost
- Match Ends at 88’
Both of these provide value. You can earn extra winnings with the acca boost promotion. The extra amount is between 5 -100% and is paid in cash. This stands out above other bookies that offer similar promotions as they usually apply turnover requirements.
The ‘Match Ends at 88’’ offer applies to selected football matches. It pays out bets on the 88th minute rather than at the full-time whistle. Of course, only if your bet is winning at 88 minutes, otherwise your bet will run its course.
Bear in mind that terms apply to the offers. We have had a good look through them, and they are very fair. Therefore, we recommend you check them out.
On top of those offers, players are also offered the chance to take part in bet clubs. There is one specifically for horse racing, and one for all other sports. Both clubs work in the same way.
Place 10 or more bets with a stake of at least £10 at odds of 7/10 (1.7) or higher between Monday- Sunday and receive a £10 free bet the following Monday.
This is an excellent offer for regular players. It is a guaranteed reward. Not many betting sites in the UK promote such offers so it’s great to see.
We also came across the ‘Novileague’. Players predict the outcome of 50 selected matches. Correct guesses equal cash prizes. The maximum win is £500,000. To win this amount, you will need to guess 20 outcomes correctly.
It’s a great offer, and it’s free for all players to take part in. What’s more, every correct answer is awarded a £1 free bet.
This is a unique offer and one which we rate highly.
Novibet Sports Betting Markets
At the time of writing our Novibet review, we could bet on 25 different sports. This is a decent amount; however, many betting sites host more than 30. In saying that, 25 offers a wide range of variety.
They offer markets on:
- Horse racing
- Rugby league
- Rugby union
- Formula 1
- Ice hockey
They even offer markets on chess. In terms of market depth, they are decent too with upwards of 450 markets on top-level football events. This is up there with the best in the business.
Normally for our reviews, we take a close look at the maximum payouts for each sport and compare them to other sites. However, Novibet does not provide such information. We contacted support who confirmed that there are no set limits.
While this might sound like good news, it probably isn’t as it means they may limit on a case-by-case basis.
On further inspection, we discovered that the maximum payout for multiples is £80,000. We assume that this is across all sport.
When you consider the likes of bet365 have upper limits of £1,000,000 on football multiples then the £80,000 seems very low.
In saying that, bet365 are top of the range on this. Unibet provide have a £250,000 limit on football, but even that is a lot higher than what Novibet offers.
Horse Racing at Novibet
We were surprised to see horse racing so prominently on Novibet. Not because it isn’t a huge sport in the UK, but because Novibet is not a traditional UK bookie.
The horse racing markets are excellent, and it is very well laid out. You can place bets daily on UK and Irish horse races and take part in the loyalty free bet club.
There are insightful stats on site, and the blog also includes expert tips which is a nice touch.
Markets were easy to find, and even the more unusual markets were front and centre. These include:
- Winner without favourite
Furthermore, they also provide live streams for horse races too. Just make sure that you have a funded account and you’ll be able to watch all races. This excellent as with some bookies you need to have a bet on the specific race you want to watch.
Competitive Odds at Novibet
|Bookmaker||Number of Markets||1X2 Margin|
Here we’re looking at an example of the margin Novibet are operating to. The margin is the bookmakers ‘edge’. All bookies add this is a way to help limit losses.
The lower the percentage, the better the value. In the above example, Novibet is working to a very good margin. It is competing with some of the biggest names in the business which is great to see.
In general, a 2% margin is applied to each outcome. In our example, we’re looking at a basic 1×2 bet. So, in this case, an England win, a draw, or a Germany win. Anything at or below 6% can be considered good.
Of course, this is just one example. If we look at other markets such as the first goalscorer or over/under goals we can see that bet365 are offering slightly better odds than Novibet.
One example can’t completely define if a betting site offers competitive odds or not, but this example indicates that you are likely to get good value.
Live betting has its own tab in the menu bar making it easy to find. Once in the in-play section, you will see an overview menu on the left-hand side. This shows how many events are live for each sport.
On top of this, they also have a live schedule that shows what matches you will be able to bet on live. You can set this to show upcoming events in the next 1, 3, 12 or 24 hours.
We were pleased with the number of markets there too. For example, we were looking at a live tennis match and there was the same number of markets as bet365.
Not all bookmakers provide a live streaming service but Novibet does. When a match is available to live stream you will see a little tv in the settings of this match.
There isn’t much information on site about live streaming, so we contacted customer support to confirm. Streaming is available on a number of sports including horse racing, which is great.
In order to watch an event, live you will need to have a funded account, so bear that in mind.
Cash-out is on offer at Novibet on a number of selected events. We tried it out and confirm that it works well.
It was available on a number of markets, but it is not all. For football, it was an option on premium leagues such as the Premier League, but not on Championship games. This is fairly standard as only the big bookmakers such as bet365 and William Hill provide the feature on lower leagues.
In saying that, Novibet does match those bookies with its partial cash-out and auto cash-out options. When cash-out is available players can choose to set an auto cash-out.
So, if you’re happy with say a £100 pay-out you can set this in your bet slip. If the cash-out amount reaches £100 then your bet will be settled. Similarly, you can cash-out a portion of your bet with the partial cash-out option.
We tested all options, all were easy to use and worked as expected. Overall, it’s an excellent feature.
We are impressed with the range of payment methods on offer at Novibet. PayPal is one of the first methods that we look for as it provides players with a good level of protection.
PayPal, however, is often omitted from bonuses. At Novibet you are welcome to deposit via PayPal and still claim the offer.
The fact that players can receive withdrawals within a 24-hour period when using an e-wallet is also a huge plus. Some betting sites have this at 72 hours, so it’s great to see. Furthermore, 1-3 working days is reasonable for debit card withdrawals as many sites have this at 5 working days.
While Apple Pay or GPay are not yet on-site, there are plenty of good options to choose from. In general, we would say that compared to the market, Novibet provides an above-average number of options.
The dedicated betting app was updated in 2020 and is now one of the best looking on the market. Therefore, it’s no surprise to us that it won the ‘Best Mobile Operator App’ in the same year.
We like that we can use either our fingerprint or face to log in (depending on what device you have). And we also like the number of markets on offer. It is exactly the same as the desktop version, and the same promotions are also included.
Live streaming is possible in the same way as desktop and the navigation to live betting markets is simple.
This is an award-winning app so it competes with the likes of Unibet and LeoVegas.
Novibet has more customer support channels than any other betting site we’ve come across. All methods are easy to use and can be found in the customer support section.
The downside is that there are no faqs. This is quite strange. A good faq section can provide multiple players with quick answers. As a result, we had to contact customer support a few times in order to fact check our Novibet review.
In saying that, it gave us a chance to try out the various channels. Live chats were answered within 20 seconds and responses were prompt. We were replied to within two minutes on Facebook and we were called back within a couple of hours.
So, despite there being no faqs we still got our answers in a quick enough manner.
Tips and Tricks
Because the Novibet site has recently been updated, it is one of the most user-friendly sites we’ve bet on.
Bear in mind that the platform is all in-house, so they have full control over what the site looks like. It’s clear that a lot of attention has gone into the navigation with large texts directing you around short, simple menus.
There is more to Novibet than just a sportsbook. It also operates a popular online casino. The casino boasts almost 4000 games, which is an enormous collection.
Furthermore, there are around 150 live casino tables too. These are provided by a range of top providers in the industry.
Players who play on the sportsbook are also welcomed to claim the casino new player offer. So, if you do want to try out casino games you can do so with ease.
While the bonus is reasonable, some other betting sites such as William Hill provide more generous free bet offers. For a £20 bet, you only receive £10. This is something that could be better.
In terms of maximum payouts, not only would we like more information on these, but also increased. £80,000 for any sport is a fairly low maximum win when you consider others in the market go above £1,000,000.
While cash-out is available, we’d like to see it at a few more events. And a bet builder function would also be nice to see.
Furthermore, a basic faq section could also improve the site.
To sum up, Novibet is at the premium end of the scale when it comes to good sports betting offerings. The site is slick and easy to navigate.
There are excellent measures in place to protect your data, and they are members of the IBAS.
Overall, if you’re looking for a new betting site with great security and promotions then Novibet could be for you.
